What is Matter?

With so many different brands and smart ecosystems, as your smart home grows, it can become quite a handful to manage their own apps and ecosystems. This is where Matter comes in. Matter is an Internet-of-Things (IoT) connectivity standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), which includes members such as Google, Apple and Samsung.

Devices that support Matter can work with each other when using a compatible Matter Controller Hub or Matter Thread Border Router (for Matter over Thread devices). Additionally, some devices that originally do not support Matter can be brought into the Matter ecosystem via a Matter Bridge.

Where does Mercator Ikuü fit in?

Mercator Ikuü is now also in the process of achieving Matter interoperability. To start, we are introducing the new Mercator Ikuü Matter Pro Hub (SGW103) into our range.

The Mercator Ikuü Matter Pro Hub is a Matter Bridge, that can bring up to 128 individual Mercator Ikuü Zigbee devices and Mercator Ikuü Doorlock systems into your Matter ecosystem. Don’t worry, it also functions exactly the same as our other Mercator Ikuü Zigbee Hubs. Connect the Mercator Ikuü Matter Pro Hub to your existing Matter Controller* (such as Google Home, Apple Homepod, Home Assistant) to control your Mercator Ikuü products through them via Matter Bridging.

*Smart function of Mercator Ikuü products via Matter Bridge may vary between different Matter Controllers.
